The short answer
Rankshift is the capacity play in AEO tracking software. For $82/mo billed annually you get 150 tracked prompts per day across 9 AI engines, with unlimited projects and unlimited seats included, and a 30-day free trial in front of it. No incumbent comes close on that per-prompt, per-engine math: Peec AI's entry plan is $80/mo annual for 50 prompts across 3 models of your choice, and Profound no longer publishes a self-serve price at all (its page shows a free trial and custom Enterprise quotes).
The catch is exactly what you would guess for a newer entrant. Rankshift is a young EU-built product with thin third-party review volume, no public funding or company information, and feature gating between tiers that is not clearly documented. The headline numbers are published and concrete; the depth behind them is something you verify yourself, and the long trial exists for precisely that. Agencies and multi-brand teams hunting breadth on a budget should run that trial. Teams that need an established vendor should stay on Peec AI or Profound. For the full landscape, see our guide to the best AEO tools.
A note on methodology first: this review is based on research of Rankshift's public pricing and documentation as of September 2026, not a hands-on production deployment. We run our own daily client tracking on Peec AI, so we know the category from the inside, and we flag clearly where we are reporting the vendor's claims rather than our own testing.
What Rankshift does
Rankshift (one word, at rankshift.ai) is AEO tracking software: you define a set of prompts, the real questions buyers ask AI assistants in your category, and it runs them across answer engines on a daily schedule, reporting whether your brand appeared, how it was framed, and which sources the engines cited. That is the core job of every tool in this category, and it addresses the same blind spot: AI-influenced buyers are invisible in normal analytics, so without a tracker you cannot tell whether the engines recommend you or a rival.
Where Rankshift differentiates is scope per dollar. The base price covers 9 engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Mistral, and Meta AI. Claude and Mistral in particular are engines rivals either sell as paid add-ons or reserve for enterprise tiers. The advertised feature set includes a visibility score, share of voice, citation analytics, sentiment analysis, AI crawler activity monitoring, content briefs and an AI writer, a Looker Studio connector, and both MCP and REST APIs.
One honest flag on that feature list: it is the platform-level list from the vendor's own marketing, and which features land in which tier is not clearly documented. Our research turned up conflicting information on tier gating, which is why you will not find a feature-by-tier matrix in this review. Treat the list as "exists somewhere in the product" and use the trial to confirm what your tier includes.
Rankshift pricing (2026)
Prices in this category move quickly, so treat these numbers as a September 2026 snapshot and confirm with the vendor before buying.
| Plan | Annual (per month) | Daily prompts | Credits | Projects and seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $82/mo | 150/day | 9,500 | Unlimited |
| Professional (most popular) | $189/mo | 350/day | 22,000 | Unlimited |
| Business | $425/mo | 850/day | 53,000 | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom | SSO, SLA |
Monthly billing runs roughly 10 to 15 percent more than the annual rates above, and every tier carries the 30-day free trial.
Three things stand out. First, the allowances are quoted per day, and they are large: 150 daily prompts on the entry tier is triple the tracked-prompt allowance of Peec's entry plan. Second, unlimited projects and seats on every plan is the most aggressive multi-brand packaging in the category; most rivals meter brands through credits or reserve multi-brand economics for agency tiers. Third, the tiers scale smoothly, $82 to $189 to $425 with proportionate capacity, with no cliff like Otterly's 6x jump from $29 to $189.
The per-prompt math against the incumbents
Every plan in this category is ultimately a price on tracked prompts, so the cleanest comparison is capacity per dollar at the entry tier, on annual billing. One unit caveat: Rankshift quotes prompts per day, while incumbents quote tracked prompts (which daily-cadence platforms run once per day), so the figures below compare each vendor's stated allowance like for like.
Run the same math as cost per tracked prompt and the gap is just as stark:
The pattern holds up the ladder. Rankshift Professional works out to roughly $0.54 per daily prompt ($189 for 350) and Business to $0.50 ($425 for 850). The incumbents' best rates are their top self-serve tiers: Peec Advanced at about $1.20 ($420/mo annual, 350 prompts) and Otterly Premium at about $1.06 ($422/mo annual, 400 prompts); Profound has no published rates any more. On published numbers, Rankshift sells capacity at roughly half to a fifth of incumbent rates, before you count the engine breadth.
That gap is exactly what a new entrant with no brand equity should offer, and it is also why the caution section below matters. Cheap capacity is only a bargain if the data quality, uptime, and support behind it hold.
What Rankshift gets right
- The broadest base engine list at any price. Nine engines including Claude, Mistral, and Meta AI, with no per-engine add-on fees. Otterly charges $29 to $439/mo extra for Claude alone depending on tier; Peec's base plans include 3 models of your choice, with additional models at $35 to $165/mo each by tier.
- Unlimited projects and seats on every plan. For agencies this is the whole pitch: a new client is a new project, not a new subscription, and nobody counts logins.
- Per-prompt economics nothing else matches. $0.50 to $0.55 per daily prompt against incumbent rates of $1.06 to $3.99.
- A 30-day trial, the longest in the category. Long enough to run a real month of tracking and verify the tier-gating question honestly before paying.
- Smooth tier scaling. $82 to $189 to $425 with proportionate capacity and no cliff between tiers.
- Modern plumbing on the spec sheet. A Looker Studio connector, REST API, and MCP server are advertised, which suggests a team building for how reporting stacks work in 2026. We have not tested any of them.
Where the caution flags are
None of these are product criticisms; they are maturity facts, and they are the reason the per-prompt math is not the whole decision.
- It is a young product from a small operation. Rankshift was founded by Pieter Verschueren and built in the EU. There is no public funding announcement, no published company or team information beyond the founder, and no customer logo wall to check references against. Fine for a trial; a real consideration for a tool your client reporting will depend on.
- Third-party review volume is thin. The incumbents have years of public reviews and case studies to triangulate against. Rankshift mostly has its own website, which is why our capacity math uses only published vendor numbers.
- Tier-level feature gating is uncertain. Which tiers include which features is not clearly documented, and our research found conflicting information. Do not assume the $82 tier includes everything on the homepage; verify your must-have features inside the trial, in the tier you intend to buy.
- Big allowances are only worth the data quality behind them. 150 prompts a day across 9 engines produces a lot of rows. Whether brand detection, sentiment, and citation extraction stay accurate at that volume is exactly what a hands-on month should test; spot-check a sample of answers against the live engines before you trust the trendlines.
- Switching costs cut both ways. A year of history built in a young platform is hard to move if it pivots or folds. Favor a single year at most, not long prepaid commitments, until the vendor has a longer public track record.
| Good at | Caution flags |
|---|---|
| 9 engines in the base price, no add-on fees | Newer product, thin third-party review volume |
| Unlimited projects and seats on all plans | No public funding or company information |
| ~$0.55 per daily prompt on Starter, half the incumbent rate or better | Feature gating by tier is uncertain; verify in trial |
| 30-day free trial, longest in the category | Data quality at volume is unproven to us |
| Smooth $82/$189/$425 tier scaling | History built in a young platform is hard to move |
Who should use Rankshift (and who should not)
Trial it if:
- You are an agency or multi-brand team where unlimited projects and seats change the economics. Incumbents make you pay for multi-brand scale through credits or higher tiers; Rankshift's packaging gives it away.
- You want breadth across the long tail of engines, including Claude, Mistral, and Meta AI, without stacking add-on fees.
- You have the discipline to actually verify: run the 30-day trial like an evaluation, spot-check answer accuracy, confirm your tier's features, and only then move real reporting onto it.
- Your budget caps around $100/mo and you want the most tracking that money can buy. Nothing else touches 150 daily prompts across 9 engines at $82.
Stay on an incumbent if:
- Your client reporting cannot tolerate vendor risk. A young platform with no public company information is a real dependency question when a retainer hangs on the dashboards; Peec is what we run daily for exactly that reason.
- You need proven integrations, support depth, or procurement-grade vendors. Enterprises with security reviews should be talking to Profound, or weighing the established options in our Peec AI alternatives roundup.
- You would rather pay for a track record than a spec sheet. Legitimate position, and it is where the incumbents earn their per-prompt premium.
Rankshift vs the alternatives
The short version, with the full landscape in our best AEO tools guide:
- Rankshift vs Peec AI. Capacity versus track record. Rankshift's $82 Starter triples Peec's entry prompt allowance and its included engine count, and both offer unlimited seats. Peec counters with production maturity, a proven agency credit model ($245 to $795/mo for 10,000 to 65,000 credits), and citation-source reporting we rely on daily with clients. If the trial convinces you on data quality, Rankshift wins the math; until then, Peec is the safer default.
- Rankshift vs Otterly.ai. Otterly's $29/mo Lite ($25 annual) remains the cheapest absolute entry point, but it buys 15 prompts on 4 engines, with Claude, Gemini, and Google AI Mode as paid add-ons. Rankshift's $82 buys ten times the prompts and all nine engines. Otterly suits a minimal proof of concept; the moment you want real coverage, the comparison flips. Our full Otterly.ai review has the add-on math.
- Rankshift vs Profound. Opposite ends of the market. Profound's pricing page now shows only a free trial (10 prompts run once, ChatGPT only) and a custom Enterprise tier with up to 9 engines, SSO, and SOC2. Rankshift gives you 9 engines at $82 with none of the enterprise assurances. If procurement is in the room, this is not a close call either way.
How we evaluate AEO tracking software
AEO Labs runs AI citation tracking daily for client brands, so we evaluate every AEO tool against the jobs the work actually involves: prompt capacity per dollar, which engines are included versus sold separately, whether the tool exposes the source URLs behind answers and not just mentions, and whether the packaging fits single-brand or multi-brand work. We did not run a hands-on Rankshift deployment for this review; pricing, allowances, engine coverage, and packaging come from the vendor's public pages as of September 2026, and everything beyond those published facts is flagged as unverified. Our own production tracking runs on Peec AI, the standard we compare challengers against. New to the discipline itself? Start with what Answer Engine Optimization is.
Key takeaways
- Rankshift is a newer EU-built AEO tracker selling raw capacity: $82/$189/$425 per month billed annually for 150/350/850 prompts per day, with monthly billing roughly 10 to 15 percent more.
- All 9 engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Mistral, Meta AI) are in the base price; every plan includes unlimited projects and seats plus a 30-day trial.
- The per-prompt math is the story: roughly $0.55 per daily prompt on Starter against $1.60 on Peec and $1.67 on Otterly at their entry tiers; Profound no longer publishes a price to compare.
- The honest caveats: young product, thin review volume, no public funding or company information, unclear feature gating by tier. Use the trial to verify features and data quality before moving real reporting onto it.
- Best fit: agencies and multi-brand teams that want breadth and seats cheaply and can tolerate a younger vendor. Wrong fit: teams that need an established platform, deep integrations, or procurement-grade assurances.
Capacity is not the same as a program
Whatever you choose from our best AEO tools guide, remember what 150 daily prompts across 9 engines actually buys you: a bigger scoreboard. The score only moves when someone does the work the tracker measures, meaning answer-first content, structured data, and citations earned on the third-party pages the engines already trust. An AI visibility audit from AEO Labs gives you the baseline and the prioritized plan. Just make the vendor prove the data before the data proves your strategy.
