HubSpot AEO Review (2026): Pricing, the Free Grader, and AI Search Sensor Explained

Published September 7, 2026
Part of our complete guide: The 5 Best AEO Tools in 2026: Trackers, Software, and Platforms
The short answer

HubSpot AEO is the cheapest paid entry into AI visibility tracking we know of: $50/mo standalone, no HubSpot plan required, with 25 tracked prompts run daily and a 28-day free trial. The trade-off is the narrowest engine coverage in the category: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity only, with no Claude, no Copilot, and no Google AI Overviews. HubSpot also ships two genuinely free companions that buyers keep confusing with the paid product: the AEO Grader (a one-time brand diagnostic) and the AI Search Sensor (a market-level volatility beta that explicitly does not show your brand). Based on our research, it fits existing HubSpot users and single-brand teams starting out; agencies and anyone needing broader engine coverage outgrow it fast.

The short answer

HubSpot AEO is the cheapest paid way into AI visibility tracking as of September 2026: $50/mo standalone, no HubSpot plan required, 25 tracked prompts run daily, and a 28-day free trial. It is also the narrowest tracker in the category, covering exactly three engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. No Claude, no Copilot, no Google AI Overviews, no Google AI Mode.

One note before anything else, because the naming genuinely confuses buyers: HubSpot now has three AI search products, and only one of them is the paid tracker. The AEO Grader is a free one-time diagnostic. The AI Search Sensor is a free market-level beta that explicitly does not show your brand. HubSpot AEO is the $50/mo product that actually tracks your brand over time. We untangle all three below.

Our verdict in one line: a sensible first paid tracker for existing HubSpot users and single-brand teams testing the waters, and a tool most serious programs outgrow the moment they need engine coverage beyond the big three chat assistants. For where it sits among every option, see our guide to the best AEO tools.

And a note on method: we run our own client tracking on Peec AI daily, but we have not run HubSpot AEO in production. This review is based on our research, HubSpot's own documentation and pricing pages (verified September 2026), and user commentary, and we flag the difference wherever it matters.

Three products, one confusing brand

Searchers arrive at "HubSpot AEO" from three different directions, so here is the map.

HubSpot AEO (paid, $50/mo). The actual tracker. Launched April 14, 2026 and still labeled Beta in product docs as of this writing. You define up to 25 prompts, it runs them daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity, and it reports how your brand shows up, to a cap of 2,500 answers per month. Its one genuine differentiator over standalone trackers: CRM-powered prompt suggestions, meaning it can propose prompts based on what it knows about your customers from HubSpot's CRM. Sold standalone with no plan required, and included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise (Enterprise lifts the limits to 50 prompts and 5,000 answers monthly).

AEO Grader (free, one-time). A diagnostic, not a tracker. You run it once and get a snapshot score of how your brand appears in AI answers at that moment. If the name AI Search Grader rings a bell, same product: HubSpot launched it under that name in 2024 and renamed it. A fine first look, but a single snapshot is not a program. We cover it alongside the other no-cost options in our free AEO tools roundup.

AI Search Sensor (free, beta). The most misunderstood of the three. It reports market-level AI search volatility and benchmarks: how much answers are churning across the market, not how your brand is doing. HubSpot's own FAQ says it plainly: "AI Search Sensor won't show your brand's visibility, but HubSpot AEO can." Treat it as weather data for the category, useful context, zero brand insight.

The practical upshot: if you have run the Grader and watched the Sensor, you still have not tracked your brand. Ongoing brand-level measurement is the paid product, full stop.

HubSpot AEO pricing (2026)

The pricing story is short, which is part of the appeal.

Standalone Marketing Hub Pro Marketing Hub Enterprise
Price for AEO $50/mo, no plan required Included Included
Tracked prompts 25 25 50
Answers per month 2,500 2,500 5,000
Run cadence Daily Daily Daily
Engines ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity Same Same
Free trial 28 days n/a n/a

When we verified pricing, annual billing was listed at $45/mo, but we saw that figure once and treat it cautiously; confirm it on HubSpot's page before budgeting. The number that matters is the headline: $50/mo is the lowest paid entry point of any tracker we cover that runs a meaningful daily prompt set.

2,500
AI answers per month captured on HubSpot AEO's $50 standalone plan, from 25 tracked prompts run daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. That is a real daily tracking cadence at the lowest paid price in the category, constrained to the narrowest engine list in the category.

One caution while you are on HubSpot's site: its comparison pages make competitor claims that do not match what those competitors publish. HubSpot's anti-Otterly page states Otterly charges $189/month after trial, while Otterly's published entry tier is Lite at $29/mo ($189 is Otterly's Standard tier, not its floor). Price every tool from the vendor's own pricing page, not a rival's comparison page.

The engine coverage problem

Here is the trade you are making at $50/mo, drawn from the verified entry tiers of the four tools buyers most often shortlist together.

Engines included at the entry tier (Sept 2026) 0 1 2 3 4 Otterly.ai Lite, $29/mo ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity, Copilot (15 prompts) HubSpot AEO, $50/mo ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity (25 prompts, daily) Peec AI Starter, $95/mo Any 3 of 6 engines, your choice (50 prompts, unlimited seats) Profound Starter, $99/mo ChatGPT only (50 prompts, 1 seat) Entry tiers only, verified September 2026. Higher tiers and add-ons expand coverage; confirm with each vendor.
Engines included at each tool's entry tier, September 2026. HubSpot AEO (lime) buys 3 fixed engines for $50/mo. Otterly's cheaper Lite tier includes 4 engines but only 15 prompts. Peec's $95 Starter also covers 3 engines, but you choose them from a list of 6 and get 50 prompts with unlimited seats. Profound's $99 Starter tracks ChatGPT alone.

Three things fall out of that chart.

First, HubSpot AEO's engine list is fixed. ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity are strong picks, but you cannot trade one for Copilot or Google AI Overviews the way you can on Peec, where the base plan is any 3 models of your choice from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Perplexity, and Gemini, with additional models available as paid add-ons from $30 per model.

Second, Google is the glaring absence. No AI Overviews and no AI Mode means the AI answers your buyers see on a Google results page are invisible to this tool. Otterly includes AI Overviews at $29; Profound adds it at Growth.

Third, per dollar, HubSpot still beats Profound at the entry level: $50 for three engines against $99 for ChatGPT alone is not a close call. Profound's argument starts at its $399 Growth tier and its enterprise depth, which we cover in our Profound review.

What HubSpot AEO is good at

Based on our research and HubSpot's documentation, the strengths cluster in four places:

Where HubSpot AEO falls short

We keep this section to what we can ground; we have no hands-on evidence of product-quality problems and will not invent any.

Three engines is the smallest coverage in the paid category. No Claude, no Copilot, no Google AI Overviews, no AI Mode, and no published path to add them. If your buyers ask Copilot at work or see AI Overviews on every Google search, this tool cannot see what they see, at any price.

25 prompts is tight, and the ceiling is low. A single brand can build a useful set within 25 well-chosen prompts, but comparison queries, competitor prompts, and category questions add up fast. The only published upgrade is Marketing Hub Enterprise's 50 prompts, which is an odd way to buy tracking capacity. Peec's tiers run 50, 150, and 350 prompts; Otterly sells 100 prompts at Standard and 400 at Premium.

It is a Beta, months old. Launched April 14, 2026 and still labeled Beta in the docs. Nothing wrong with young products, but expect movement in features, limits, and pricing, and weigh that against trackers with longer records.

No agency shape. There is no multi-brand workspace story, no credit pool, no unlimited-seat agency tier. For one brand inside one HubSpot portal it is fine; for an agency roster it is the wrong shape entirely, which is where Peec's agency plans ($245 to $795/mo on pooled credits) exist.

How we evaluate

Full transparency on method: we have not run HubSpot AEO in production. This review is built from HubSpot's own pricing and product documentation, verified on live pages in September 2026, and every competitor number above comes from that same verification pass. What grounds our read of the category is that AEO Labs runs its client AI-visibility tracking on Peec AI daily, across multiple brands in unrelated verticals. That daily work is why engine coverage and prompt ceilings are the first two things we check on any tracker; they are the constraints that bite once a program matures. Where we could not fully verify something, including HubSpot's $45/mo annual figure, we say so and tell you to confirm with the vendor.

Key takeaways

Cheap tracking is still just tracking

At $50/mo, HubSpot AEO makes the measurement decision easy. It does not make the visibility work happen. Whatever the dashboard says, moving the numbers takes answer-first content, structured data, and citations on the third-party pages the engines already trust.

If you want the baseline before committing to any tool, an AI visibility audit from AEO Labs measures how the engines currently handle your brand across more surfaces than HubSpot's three, and hands you the prioritized gap list. Then the tooling decision, HubSpot included, gets much easier, because you will know exactly which problem you are paying $50 a month to watch.

Frequently asked questions

How much does HubSpot AEO cost?

HubSpot AEO costs $50 per month as a standalone product, and HubSpot states that no HubSpot plan is required to buy it. When we checked, annual billing was listed at $45 per month, though we verified that figure only once, so confirm it on HubSpot's pricing page. The tool is also included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, and there is a 28-day free trial.

Do I need a HubSpot subscription to use HubSpot AEO?

No. HubSpot sells AEO as a standalone product at $50/mo with no plan required, which is unusual for HubSpot and worth knowing because many buyers assume it is locked inside the suite. If you already pay for Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, it is included, and Marketing Hub Enterprise raises the limits from 25 tracked prompts and 2,500 answers per month to 50 prompts and 5,000 answers.

What is the difference between HubSpot AEO, the AEO Grader, and AI Search Sensor?

They are three separate products. HubSpot AEO is the paid tracker: $50/mo, 25 prompts run daily across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. The AEO Grader is a free one-time diagnostic that scores how your brand shows up in AI answers at the moment you run it; it was formerly called the AI Search Grader. The AI Search Sensor is a free beta that reports market-level AI search volatility and benchmarks, and HubSpot's own FAQ is explicit that it will not show your brand's visibility. Only the paid product does ongoing brand-level tracking.

Which AI engines does HubSpot AEO track?

Three: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. That is the narrowest engine coverage of any paid tracker we cover. There is no Claude, no Microsoft Copilot, no Google AI Overviews, and no Google AI Mode. If answers in those surfaces matter to your buyers, you would need a different tool: Otterly.ai includes Copilot and AI Overviews in its base engines, Peec AI lets you choose any 3 of 6 engines including Copilot and AI Overviews, and Profound's Growth tier adds AI Overviews.

Is there a free version of HubSpot AEO?

Not of the tracker itself, but there is a 28-day free trial. The two genuinely free HubSpot products are the AEO Grader, a one-time brand diagnostic, and the AI Search Sensor beta, which covers market-level trends rather than your brand. Both are useful for a first look, but neither replaces ongoing prompt-level tracking.

What are the best alternatives to HubSpot AEO?

The closest alternatives are Otterly.ai (from $29/mo, 15 prompts, with ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Copilot as base engines), Peec AI (from $95/mo, 50 prompts, any 3 engines of your choice from 6, unlimited seats), and Profound (from $99/mo for ChatGPT only, $399/mo for three engines). Pick HubSpot AEO for the lowest paid entry price or if you already live in HubSpot; pick Peec or Otterly when you need engines HubSpot does not cover; pick Profound for the enterprise motion.

Is HubSpot AEO still in beta?

It launched on April 14, 2026 and was still labeled Beta in HubSpot's product documentation when we checked in September 2026. The product is young, so expect features, limits, and possibly pricing to move. The 28-day trial is the sensible way to judge the current state before paying.
